For 250 days starting on 21st February 2019, we donated 25% of our net profits to charity. In conjunction with this we participated in various fundraising events. All the money raised was split between the Brain Tumour Charity and charities that our staff and customers nominated, some of these charities were MS, York against Cancer, Different Strokes, and Huntingdon’s Disease.
2019 was a special year – we celebrated 25 years of building houses by creating a charitable foundation. Over the course of the year we be supported a variety of charities such as Parkinsons, Lupas UK, York Against Cancer, Alzheimers, Sash, Well Child, Different Strokes, MS and Huntingtons Disease.
The challenge of a lifetime
One of the most daunting events we took part in was the 84 miles walk of Hadrian’s Wall. This coast to coast journey was not for the faint-hearted, the epic journey followed the ancient wall built between AD 122 and AD 128. From the east coast to the west, the wall spans England’s northern border with Scotland rising over hill and dale. While our team, led by Matthew Gath, would not say the expedition was easy but they successfully completed the event raising thousands for charity.
Coffee morning raises funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance
During an extremely wet and windy morning in Leyburn, we hosted our coffee morning in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
However, thanks to all the support from Yorvik home buyers and Leyburn locals, it was a tremendous success and, together with the raffle, we raised over a thousand pounds.
Local businesses in the area, including The Wensleydale Heifer, Milners Interiors, Serendipity, Property Link Homes and Katie’s tearoom kindly donated prizes and the standard of baking would have impressed Mary Berry herself.
Sue Heslehurst helped us obtain the matched funding from Barclays Bank for £1000 and the Air Ambulance benefitted by £2010.00 in total.
We are so grateful to everyone who helped in this event and who supported it to achieve this result.
